Calling drug addiction one of the most serious challenges confronting society, Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu urged citizens to join hands in the fight against narcotics, stressing that a drug-free society can only be achieved through collective public participation.
Addressing an anti-drug awareness programme at Tripura University, the Governor said the menace of substance abuse cannot be eradicated by government agencies alone and called upon students, teachers, parents, social organisations and community leaders to become active partners in the campaign against drugs.
Emphasising the role of educational institutions in shaping responsible citizens, he said universities and colleges should take the lead in spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug addiction and encourage young people to stay away from narcotics. He described the youth as the nation's greatest asset and said protecting them from addiction is essential for building a stronger and healthier India.
The Governor also highlighted the need for sustained awareness campaigns and community engagement, noting that social responsibility and public vigilance are key to preventing the spread of drug abuse. He appealed to every section of society to support the government's efforts to realise the vision of a drug-free Tripura and a drug-free India.
