The Winter Session of Tripura Assembly will begin from January 17 next, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said today after the cabinet meeting. The minister who is also the cabinet spokesperson also informed media regarding some of the important decisions taken by the cabinet.
Addressing the press at Civil secretariat Nath said, “The state cabinet today approved the second amendment in SGST leading to inclusion of three new sections. Earlier there are 18 sections in the act which stood up to 21 with the amendments.”
Elaborating on state’s performance in terms of GST, he said, if we go by the statistics of last three years—in the year 2017-18 state collected total GST of Rs 608.71 Crore. The state collected Rs 479.71 Crore and central compensated the rest of Rs 129 crore. In the subsequent financial year, total GST collection stood at Rs 1132.44 crore where the state collected Rs 977.44 crore and the central’s compensation is Rs 155 Crore. In the current financial year 2019-20, he added, state collected total GST of Rs 931.77 crore with state’s share of Rs 760.77 crore and central grant of Rs 171 crore.
Apart from GST, the cabinet also took a few important decisions today which included approval of Tripura Industrial Facilitation First Amendment Act, in order ease the job of new entrepreneurs.
Speaking on the Bill, Nath said, a similar Bill was placed in the cabinet last year but due to some loopholes it has been redrafted henceforth with some new inclusions and approved today.
Elaborating on the new inclusion, he said, under this Bill, the entrepreneurs willing to set up new industrial units, has been given some relaxations and powers. “If any aspiring entrepreneur finds that his official paper works and necessary approvals are being delayed, he has the right to know the reasons behind late under this Bill. If any officer is found guilty of delaying intentionally, he will be penalized with a daily penalty of Rs 1000 till maximum of Rs 25,000” Nath told media.
He also informed the media persons that from now the new entrepreneurs have to possess approval from Tripura Urban Development Agency (TUDA) and all the line departments such as Industries and Commerce department, Fire Service Department, Agartala Municipal Corporation and Factories and Broilers Department would conduct joint visit to the proposed industrial plots.
