In line with the directives of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Sunday announced a state-wide public outreach campaign starting from June 22.
The campaign aims to highlight the alleged failures of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at both the Centre and in the state.
Following a key organisational meeting held at the Congress Bhavan in Agartala, TPCC President Asish Kumar Saha said that leaders from across the state — including District and Block Presidents and representatives of various wings of the party — were present to plan the campaign.
“As per instructions from the AICC, we will launch a block-level door-to-door campaign starting June 22,” Saha said. “The focus will be on raising awareness about the deteriorating condition of the country and Tripura under the BJP regime. We will also communicate the proactive steps taken by Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge — including the push for a caste-based census.”
Saha, a former BJP MLA, also made a controversial claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had agreed to a ceasefire in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack due to alleged pressure from the-U.S. President Donald Trump.
He further added that Congress workers would distribute leaflets highlighting key issues such as rising unemployment, inflation, a worsening law and order situation, and increasing crimes against women.
“We are reaching out to the public directly, seeking their support and trust by laying bare the ground realities and failures of the BJP government,” Saha said.
