The Meteorological Centre, Agartala has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over Tripura from 16th to 18th June 2025.
According to the latest weather analysis, a cyclonic circulation is present over the Northwest Bay of Bengal between 3.1 and 7.6 kilometers above mean sea level, tilting southwestwards with height. Additionally, another cyclonic circulation lies over Central Assam at around 4.5 km above mean sea level. These atmospheric conditions, combined with strong southerly and southwesterly winds, are expected to cause significant moisture incursion into Tripura.
As a result, the region is likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning, accompanied by gusty winds in one or two places across various districts.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Sepahijala and South districts on 16th June, while the remaining districts are under a yellow alert. On 17th June, the orange alert will extend to West, Sepahijala, Gomati, and South districts, remaining in effect through 18th June.
Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious, stay updated on weather advisories, and take necessary precautions to mitigate the impact of the adverse weather conditions.
