The media fraternity will remember senior journalist Naresh Mitra at Guwahati Press Club on 12 December. Media persons will also try to find some financial measures for the benefit of his family during the meeting starting at 11 am.
Mentionable is that Naresh, who worked as a special correspondent for The Times of India expired in a city-based hospital on Monday. He sustained serious head injuries in a mysterious accident on the night of November 22 at Rupnagar locality of the city. Naresh (46) left behind his wife, a minor daughter, and many relatives.
Journalists’ Forum Assam (JFA) earlier raised the issue of mysterious accident following the observation of attending doctors in the hospital and demanded a fair probe to the accident that turned fatal for the young, affectionate and energetic scribe. JFA urged State chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal to take a personal interest in resolving the issue.
