The High Court of Tripura has on today directed the DWS department to re-appoint one Tapan Biswas, who has been axed from his job allegedly due to political recommendations. A single bench of Justice Subhashis Talapatra directed the concerned authorities to re-appoint Tapan within the stipulated time period of 15 days and also cancelled appointment of one Pritam Chakraborty who replaced Tapan in his post.
Speaking to this website, advocate Biplab Debnath, who pleaded the Court for petitioner said, Tapan come to know that he has been terminated from his post of pump operator at a pump house located at laxmipur village under Teliamura when he received a letter of dismissal on January 12 last year. In the letter he collected from the executive engineers' office DWS, it has been underscored that he lost his job due to the recommendations made by local Panchayat Pradhan and Teliamura Panchayat Samity chairperson Apu Das, Debnath said.
Accordingly, Tapan moved to the High Court seeking justice. The Court issued notices to altogether 13 respondents. After hearing both the parties, the Court ordered the authorities to re-appoint Tapan in his earlier post.
In a similar case, the Court gave a judgment in favor of one Uttam Dey of Noagaon, Kamalpur, who has been terminated almost similarly. Tapan has been serving in the pump house since last 12 years.
