Anupam sent for three day police remand


Chief Judicial Magistrate, Agartala today sent Anupam Paul, the prime accused in the spreading malicious campaign against the Chief Minister and his family, to three day police remand.

Anupam, who posted multiple malicious comments in social media against the Chief Minister and his family, was arrested from the Delhi Airport on June 12 last.

Reportedly, he had posted in the social media about a rift in the Chief Minister’s family, in which Niti Deb, wife of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb had filed a divorce suit against Deb in a Court in Delhi, where the couple used to stay earlier.

Anupam was produced before the Delhi Metropolitan Court seeking transit remand. The remand was granted and the accused was taken back to the state accordingly. Police sources said, an FIR was lodged against him with West Agartala Police station on April 25 last from when he was absconding.

Speaking to this correspondent, investigating officer of the case said, he was arrested on the charges of spreading misappropriated information in the social media. Section, 464, 461, 501, 120B, 384, 466 and 474 were imposed against him.
