Maintaining the age-old tradition of internal feuds, Tripura Pradesh Congress today once again witnessed disarray between the lobbies of present TPCC chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarman and former TPCC president Birajit Sinha. The distance between both the leaders came to surface with specific comments against each other triggering which in turn once again doomed party’s image just before the elections.
Speaking to the media persons today at his residence before a meeting with AICC secretary Bhupen Borah, Birajit Sinha said, the new TPCC president is unwilling to conduct meeting with the party leaders and thus we are in very much confusion regarding Rahul Gandhi’s visit. Congress president Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit the state on March 20 next. And till date no preparatory meetings have taken place, He added.
While I was the president, before every visit of the party higher ups, I used to take proper preparatory measures. At least, all the party workers were made aware of the events through pre-visit meetings but right now the trend has gone missing, claimed Sinha in a disappointing tone.
Finding no other way out, Sinha claimed, we have assembled here at my residence and called on AICC secretary Bhupen Borah to, at least, make us aware of the schedule of Rahul Gandhi’s visit. Presidents of all the 16 party wings are also present here, the frustrated Birajit added.
Reacting on these comments, TPCC president Pradyor Kishore Debbarman however said, the Congress is a party which allows internal deliberations. Former President Birajit Sinha has all the liberty to speak what he wants. But as far as my knowledge all the party leaders and workers are notified of Congress chief’s schedule.
Moreover, he also confronted the former president saying, Birajit Sinha is known for his proximity with the “Gandhi” family. And if he claims that he doesn’t know anything about Rahul Gandhi’s visit it is really contradicts his own statements, Pradyot concluded.
