Keeping parity with country wide programme CPI-M organized Jail Bharo movement at Udaipur which started from District office of CPM today. Sources said that police arrested 150 agitators when the rally attempted to break second barricade after breaking first barricade. Then police kept the agitators at Udaipur Town hall and released them at 2:30 p.m. Senior leader of CPI-M Keshab Majumder and former minister Ratan Bhowmik led the rally of CPI-M.
Our correspondent from Sonamura added that CPI-M agitators conducted Law disobedience movement in support of Jail Bharo movement within the area party office instead of organizing rally on the road.
Sources said that delegates of Tripura Khset Majdoor Union, Tripura Gana Mukti Parishad and CITU were present at small courtyard of CPI-M Head office Mujaffar Bhavan situated at sadar of Subdivision. People of the subdivision were wondered by the attempt as the party led by present opposition leader and former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and MLA Sahid Choudhury who restricted their movement within the party office.
Our correspondent from Sabroom added that Jail Bharo Movement organized in support of 6 point demand with initiative of Sara Bharat Krishak Sabha, GMP, Khset Majdoor Union and CITU.
MLA Prabhat Choudhury, Sanjib Dey from KMU and Biplab Sanyal from CITU led the movement. Police arrested the agitators when they broke second barricade of police and TSR. Altogether 223 agitators were arrested and they were brought to the ground of Sabroom H.S. School. Later police released them at 3 p.m.
Besides, CPI-M organized Jail Bharo movement at the premises of Birganja Police Station today.
Our correspondent added from Belonia that workers and supporters of BJP started to assemble at Belonia town to prevent Jail Bharo movement of CPI-M since morning today. Observing the situation police arranged tight security to prevent any untoward incident and the movement of CPM ended peacefully.
However large number of police and TSR deployed at the premises of CPM and BJP office to prevent any clash between the parties. The situation still remained tensed at present.
Our correspondent from Khowai added that Jail Bharo held peacefully through arrest of CPM leaders and workers. BJP organized protest rally at 11 a.m. while BMS organized a protest rally in protest of Jail Bharo movement of CPM in the evening today. Altogether, 5221 agitators arrested by Jail Bharo movement all over the state today.
