About 50 houses water logged at Udaipur Dak bungalow Road after two showers of rain along with nor’wester yesterday.
Although, water logging at different parts of town after a little shower of rain has become a tradition of Udaipur Municipal Council for long time.
UMC authority has no headache to get rid of the problem.
Meanwhile local people alleged that CPI-M supporters filled water bodies by soil illegally. As a result many areas become inundated after a little shower of rain. Chairperson Subrata Deb has not taken any preventive measure after filing complains once and again.
Sources said that some water bodies illegally filled at ward no-9 of UMC. But municipal Council has not taken any attempt to stop the activities.
Meanwhile, the local people gheraoed the residence of UMC Chairman today in protest of water logging after rain yesterday.
They alleged that on being a member of the locality Chairman has not taken any action to prevent water logging after requesting him to take necessary steps for long time.
Speaking to media Chairperson of UMC Subrata Deb said, the problem is prevailing for long time. However UMC is trying hard to solve the problem.
