Our government has a view about the farmers of the state and we will continue work for the interest of farmers, said Agriculture minister Pranajit Sinha Roy while inaugurating 3000 Metric Tonne Godown for chemical fertilizer at Khirod Nagar ADC village yesterday. He advised the farmers to understand their responsibility from the department without irritating the employees by making complain against them.
Speaking on the occasion Agriculture Welfare Minister Sinha Roy said, “We are continuing our effort to double the income of farmers by 2022.” Addressing the farmers he requested them not to keep any land in abandoned condition and the government has responsibility for marketing of crops.
Giving the instance he said that the present government has arranged marketing of pineapple from Tripura to abroad. He further added, “for the first time FCI started to buy paddy directly from the farmers of the state at Rs. 1750 per Quintal.
During speech MLA Pinaki Das Choudhury said, earlier the farmers used to face many problems for getting fertilizer. Now there will be no problem after inauguration of godown for fertilizer.
MLA Prashanta Debbarma said, there are six agriculture sectors in our district. He appealed the employees of the department to look into the matter for proper distribution of fertilizer among farmers.
Deputy Director of Agriculture in Khowai district Sangram Das delivered the welcome address. Director of the department D.P. Sarkar also delivered speech on the occasion. Subrata Majumder presided over the function. It is worthy to mention here that 3200 families of farmers are dwelling in Khowai district.
