The West Agartala Police have detained a controversial content creator identified as Alamin Hossein for allegedly uploading offensive and objectionable content on his social media platforms YouTube and Facebook named Mr. Honco.
Officer-in-Charge of the West Agartala Police Station, Paritosh Das on Saturday confirmed the development and said a specific case has been registered against him after a total five persons filed a complaint against him.
"Few days ago, we received a complaint against a YouTube and Facebook channel. Following our investigation, we have detained the owner and content creator, Alamin Hossein. He used to post extremely offensive videos, some of which contained anti-national remarks and derogatory statements against women," Das said.
He said that Hossein, who hails from Sepahijala district, operated a Facebook account under the name 'Mr. Hunco'.
“Authorities have initiated steps to shut down the account and have informed Facebook's parent company about the same”, he said.
The police are set to produce Hossein before the court, seeking five days of police remand to further investigate the matter.
According to officials, a total of five complaints have been filed against him by different individuals.
"We are taking strict action whenever we receive complaints about content creators misusing social media platforms to spread offensive material," added the Officer-in-Charge.
