Bangladeshi woman, two Indian agents nabbed

AGARTALA:

In a late-night crackdown on Friday, security agencies apprehended a Bangladeshi woman along with two Indian touts at Agartala Railway Station for alleged involvement in illegal infiltration and human trafficking.

Tapas Das, Officer-in-Charge of the Government Railway Police (GRP), confirmed the arrests on Saturday and said the trio was intercepted while preparing to board a train to Hyderabad. The operation was jointly conducted by the GRP, Railway Protection Force (RPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and intelligence personnel.

During preliminary questioning, it was revealed that the three had illegally crossed the Indo-Bangladesh border. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mamuda (30), a resident of Shariatpur district in Bangladesh, and two Indian nationals — Krishna Debnath (32) from Battala, Sabroom, and Toton De (28) from Rajnagar, also in South Tripura’s Sabroom subdivision.

“The suspects are currently being interrogated in phases at the Agartala GRP station. A case has been registered and they will be produced in court to seek police remand,” Das stated.
