Start-up Tripura is an initiative led by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb with the vision to turn Tripura into a leading Start-up hub which will escalate the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of ‘Digital India’ encouraging entrepreneurial mindset, creating career opportunities and providing necessary supports to budding start-ups in collaboration with several stakeholders such NASSCOM (a billion-dollar IT BPM industry in India), STPI (Software Technology Park of India) etc. An MoU has been signed between the state government and NASSCOM as implementation partner and STPI as incubation partner that will help boost the Start-up ecosystem to help budding entrepreneurs of the state to thrive. The initiative will help entrepreneurs through Start-up fund, support emerging Start-ups, grow new age businesses and allied services, create new employment opportunities transforming India into digital entity, it will also have dedicated policy intervention and therefore aiding development and growth of the state. Tripura is the first among North-east states to have such institutional collaboration with NASSCOM.
Start-up Tripura portal and logo were inaugurated by Union Minister for Law & Justice, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad in a virtual meet today in presence of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Chief Secretary Kumar Alok, Secretary, Government of India Ajay Prakash Sawhney, NASSCOM President Debjani Ghosh, STPI Director General Dr. Omkar Rai, Business Person Anil Agarwal, Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy and other online participants.This is also the fist annual event conducted to celebrate entrepreneurial heroes of the state with 2,000 above online participants.
Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy in the programme welcomed Tripura to take the leap of faith for Start-up Tripura as this initiative will help in various ways such as infrastructural support, management support. NASSCOM President in the virtual programme lauded Chief Minister’s initiative and said, “NASSCOM is committed to create meaningful impact in the journey. The state will benefit tremendously by cultivating entrepreneurial mindset in its youth, most importantly fostering problem solving mindset, spirit of innovation which is so needed to shape and develop India. It is a very important step to achieve the dream of PM Modi of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. If our Start-up thrives, I am very sure that innovation will thrive in India.” She wished Tripura the best in becoming a leader in North-east, a Start-up and Technology Hub with respect to technology, engagement, partnership etc.
The Chief Minister then inaugurated incubation centre in the programme. Incubation centres provide necessary mentorship at different stages to budding entrepreneurs and help Start-ups to raise money from wide range of investors. Through this initiative they can avail benefits such as air conditioning, conference hall, power subsidy, internet subsidy, delta centre hosting, POC, employment subsidy etc. The Chief Minister then unboxed ‘iSync’, a plug-in device that connects all electrical appliances at home to one smartphone app making devices smarter created by Tripura-based Start-up company iLogitron Solutions Pvt Ltd.
Tripura has a lot of potentials and only needs a medium of opportunities to shine through. Start-ups like iLogitron, ELAFY, NTERTAIN of the state are already on their way to setting benchmarks.
