Despite stern warning of the state education minister Ratan Lal Nath over the illegal practice of private tuition and also despite the ban on it by the Tripura High Court, a large section of government aided teachers of different schools across the state are still indulged to it in making hefty out of it. Meantime, leaving no stone unturned the concerned administration is coming up strict on those unruly teachers.
The district education officer of Belonia in South Tripura district on Wednesday last issued a show cause notice and a memo to a total of 20 such unruly teachers of different schools of the district who are allegedly indulged to a private practice.
The teachers are asked to submit their individual reply on the issue stating if they were engaged to private tuition as the complaint was made. “If it is so, then the list of students who are reading privately under his/her private coaching should be furnished along with the reply,” the show cause notice from the DEO reads.
Meanwhile, the memo issued by the DEO on July 22 instructed the concerning head of institutions of those teachers to conduct a confidential enquiry into the matter and furnish the factual report by July 27 this year.
It is notable here that earlier this year terming the private tuitions done by the government school teachers as ‘objectionable’, the Tripura government warned them to stop private tuitions immediately or else, leave the job.
Moreover as a measure against the widespread private tuitions, the High Court of Tripura banned private coaching by government and its aided schools along with private schools teachers in 2015.
