In an incident of devastating fire some powerful transformers including many valuable equipments gutted at Banduar Power Station of Udaipur today.
The incident took place at 9:45 a.m. The fire broke out when a 25 MVA transformer busted with a huge sound. Sources said that there was 150 liter transformer oil inside the transformer. As a result huge flame of fire started to spread rapidly at all sides.
Later another 5 MVA transformer caught fire. Consequently many valuable equipments and electric wire gutted in the fire.
However the barrels of oil in adjacent area were saved. Otherwise saving Banduar could have been troublesome.
On being informed first DM Tarun Kanti Debnath called Fire service. Later seven engines of Fire Service reached on the spot one by one. Crossing hundreds of people the Fire Service controlled the fire at 11 a.m. The seventh engine came from OTPC at Palatana. The fire engine started to spray foam and it helped to extinguish the fire rapidly.
Sources said that the employees of the department reached to the spot after the incident. Although, DGM had not reached from Agartala.
Later DM, SDM, ASP and SDPO reached to the spot. At last all got relief after bringing the fire under control. As result the power service remained cut off at extended area all over the day.
