Club secretary murder case: Police arrested third suspect from West Bengal

AGARTALA:

Tripura Police have arrested another individual identified as Birchakra Ghosh from West Bengal for his alleged involvement in the sensational murder case of Bharat Ratna Sangha club secretary, Durga Prasanna Deb.

On April 30, near Hati Para in the Sal Bagan area of Agartala, Durga Prasanna Deb was shot dead at point-blank range.

Police sources state that soon after the murder, Tripura Police arrested two individuals, including a woman and both of them were remanded to police custody until May 7.

“Later, a team of Tripura Police led by West District Additional Superintendent of Police (Urban) Chiranjib Chakraborty departed for West Bengal and apprehended the third suspect, Birchakra Ghosh, from Kolkata,” said a police source.

The source further mentioned that Ghosh was brought back to Agartala this morning and would be presented before the court to seek police remand.
