In a devastating incident that occurred on Wednesday night in the Exchange Chowmuhani area under Teliamura police station, three shops were reduced to ashes.
The source of the fire is believed to be an electrical short circuit in the shop of Haridhan Pal, a local businessman in the Exchange Chowmuhani area of Teliamura.
The locals first noticed the raging flames in Haridhan Pal's shop late at night on Wednesday and promptly alerted the Teliamura fire brigade. Firefighters rushed to the scene, but by the time they arrived, the fire had already engulfed three shops. The Teliamura police station was also informed and quickly dispatched officers to the location.
After a strenuous effort, the fire brigade personnel managed to bring the fire under control. Unfortunately, despite their efforts all the goods in the shops including the three shop houses were completely destroyed.
An employee of the fire brigade stated that the initial estimate of the damage is between 10 to 12 lakh rupees. The authorities suspect that an electrical short circuit triggered the fire, leading to the rapid and destructive spread.
