A mini Half Marathon with the initiative of BSF has been organized today at Teliamura in memory of Martyrs of BSF and to create awareness among general public for the support of BSF Martyr’s family under the guidance of Baby Joseph, DIG SHQ of BSF Teliamura.
Total 54 persons in total from BSF, SBI Khowai and Local Villagers participated in today’s Half Marathon. Constable Shiv Pratap of 130 BN BSF, Sujeet Sarkar of Village Khasiamangal and Constable Kiran Kumar of 48 BN BSF stood first, second and third respectively in the race today.
The first prize has been sponsored by SBI Khowai Branch while the second and third prizes respectively have been sponsored by Sparsh Foundation of Khowai. All the winners have been rewarded by DIG BSF Teliamura. Huge amount of enthusiasm was seen among the participants in the race.
Speaking on the occasion Baby Joseph, DIG BSF Teliamura said, “Since the birth of BSF in the year 1965, total 1850 BSF Personnel have laid down their lives for the service to the nation. Since they died for upholding the security of our country and it is the moral duty of every citizen to render support to the dependents of brave soldiers.”
In the reward ceremony among the other dignitaries Amitav Roy, Commandant (OPS) SHQ BSF Teliamura, M R Panda, Officiating Commandant 48 BN BSF and other officers of BSF Campus Teliamura remained present. All the locals and BSF Persons witnessed the event with lots of enthusiasm.
