The Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday organised a special session here at the frontier headquarter at Agartala Shalbagan to encourage the use of millets among families of Seema Praharis. Senior officers, troops and their family members were present during the seminar.
Padma Shri recipient of 2023, known as millet man of India Khadar Vali conducted the seminar and emphasized upon the benefits of millets for leading a healthy life.
The BSF in its press communique on Monday stated, “Millets are full of vitamins, minerals, fibers etc. and have more nutritional content than conventional grains. In BSF messes, millets are being extensively used in the food preparation. It will also be pertinent to mention here that Food and Agriculture Organization and United Nation have recognized 2023 as the International year of Millets for awareness about health and nutritional benefits of Millets.”
