Ahead of LS Polls Tripura Govt announces 5% DA/DR for employees, pensioners

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday announced 5% Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief for employees and pensioners of the state effective from January 1, 2024.

Addressing the Tripura Legislative Assembly on the third day on Tuesday, Chief Minister Dr Saha said despite financial constraints the state government decided to extend the support to 1.6 lakh employees and over 82000 pensioners considering the consumer price index and inflation; for which the state will shoulder the burden of Rs 500 Cr annually.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting its workforce, even during challenging times such as the Covid-19 pandemic Dr Saha emphasized that while some states had to halt salaries, the Tripura government had gone ahead and announced DA.

He said after BJP led the government within six months of coming to power, the pay scale of the government employees was revised based on the 7th central pay matrix on Oct 1, 2018. And, thereafter despite financial hardship due to Covid19 pandemic, the state government released up to 8 percent DA/DR for the employees and pensioners on July 1, 2022.
