At least eight BJP’s Janajati Morcha workers including women were attacked allegedly by a group of workers of TIPRA Motha on Monday, while they were on their way to join the rally of BJP National President J P Nadda at Khumulwung.
The incident took place on Monday noon at Namanjoy Para under Khowai Champahour police station, while at least eight workers of the BJP’s Janajati Morcha from Asharambari constituency boarded on a vehicle was on their way to take part in the rally of J P Nadda at Khumulwung.
While the vehicle reached Namanjoy Para, a group of tribals allegedly belonging to the TIPRA Motha party discovered the attack on their vehicle by pelting lathis on the vehicle and left the eight injured. The injured persons managed to rush themselves to the nearby Teliamura sub-divisional hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
The injured were identified as BJP Asharambari Mandal general secretary Falen Debbarma, Ekaran Debbarma, Radharani Debbarma, Bimala Debbarma, Tapan Debbarma, Pijush Debbarma, M B Debbarma and others.
Alarmed by the incident, a large contingent of police rushed to the incident spot and took stock of the situation and brought the situation under control.
