With the initiative of Panisagar Netaji New Voice Club, 29th State Cross Country Race tournament held today at Panisagar in between huge enthusiasm among the participants. The scenario of the busy Assam Agartala Road has been totally changed today as the athletes and also spectators gathered in huge number to participate in this state tournament.
The race was consisted of 12 km in the Men’s section while in the Women’s section the race was held for 6 km. Biplab Roy of Fatikray became champion in the Men’s category while Priyanka Sharma of Tripura Sports School became champion in the Women’s section. Total 314 athletes in the Men’s category and 111 athletes in the Women’s category took part.
In the Men’s section from Radhapur the race has been inaugurated by Social Welfare Minister Bijita Nath while the Women’s category has been inaugurated by Speaker of State Assembly Ramendra Chandra Debnath from Tilthai. Among the others dignitaries MLA Subodh Das, Samiran Das, Chairman of Dharmanagar Municipal council Sakti Bhattacharjee remained present.
In the Boy’s section Biplab Roy of Fatikray bagged the top slot with 45.00.32 minutes, while with 45.03.19 minutes Pabindra Das of Teliamura remained at the second position. While with 45.07.68 minutes Manik Mia of Sonamura, with 47.14.87 minutes Subhasish Nag of Kumarghat and with 47.22.50 minutes Mahabul Alam of Tripura Police bagged the next three places respectively.
In the Girl’s category Priyanka Sharma of Tripura Sports School bagged the top slot with 22.28.97 minutes while with 22.39.60 minutes time Sushmita Deb of Kumarghat placed at the second position. Hadiza Begam of Sadar with 22.51.65 minutes, Sushmita Sarkar of Sadar with 22.58.05 minutes and Shilpi Sutradhar of Fatikray with 23.41.29 minutes bagged the next three places respectively.
At the end of the race prize distribution ceremony took place where Social welfare minister Bijita Nath along with other dignitaries remained present. In the ceremony Biplab Roy has been felicitated for winning two silvers and 1 bronze medal in the recently concluded World Athletics tournament. For the successful completion of the race Sunil Roy thanked each and everyone.
