The 14th Convocation Ceremony of Tripura University was held with great enthusiasm, where the Vice President of India, C. P. Radhakrishnan, inaugurated the event and encouraged students to remain patient, focused on their goals, and confident in their abilities in order to achieve success.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice President said that behind every successful individual lies immense hard work, discipline, dedication, and passion for their work. He noted that while people often see the success of individuals, they tend to overlook the sacrifices, perseverance, and commitment that lead to such achievements. “If we have patience in our minds, clarity of goals, and faith in ourselves, success will surely come,” he stated.
The convocation ceremony was organized at the Maharaja Bir Bikram Centenary Building of the university. The Governor of Tripura, Indrasena Reddy Nallu, and the Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, also addressed the gathering.
On the occasion, the Vice President virtually inaugurated the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre and staff quarters constructed on the Tripura University campus.
During his address, Radhakrishnan highlighted that although Tripura is a small state, it possesses a rich heritage and cultural legacy. He praised the state’s traditions, spirituality, and communal harmony, which he said contribute to its unique identity. Referring to his visit earlier in the day to the Tripura Sundari Temple, he also mentioned the potential for developing spiritual and eco-tourism around sites such as Chabimura and Dumboor Lake.
He further commended the progress of Tripura University, describing it as a centre for quality education, research, and innovation. He stressed the need to expand research activities across various disciplines to encourage new discoveries and innovations.
The Vice President also appreciated the role of the state leadership in strengthening the university’s standing. Referring to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said the northeastern region has witnessed major infrastructural improvements in recent years. Improved connectivity has enabled Tripura to establish direct links with various parts of the country, contributing to economic growth and expanding opportunities for the younger generation.
Addressing students, he emphasized the importance of time management and urged them to stay away from drug abuse. He also encouraged them to discourage others from falling into addiction. Highlighting the transformative role of technology, he said that the present generation is living in a historic era as India moves rapidly towards becoming a developed nation, and technology should be used for the welfare of society.
Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu told students that the fields of Tripura, the green forests of Jampui Hills, and the markets of Agartala have also contributed to their growth. He urged them to repay this debt by applying their education to solve local problems and by helping others succeed.
He also stressed the importance of the National Education Policy in bringing long-awaited reforms in the education sector and reiterated the vision of building a developed India by 2047.
Chief Minister Manik Saha, while addressing the students, said that today’s youth will lead Tripura and India in the future. He described them as the future architects of the vision of “Viksit Bharat” envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Extending greetings on International Women’s Day, he congratulated the female students and women present at the ceremony.
The Chief Minister noted that the convocation ceremony is not merely a formal event but a celebration of the dedication, perseverance, and excellence demonstrated by students over the years. He said Tripura University has emerged as a major centre of knowledge, intellectual growth, and human resource development in the state.
