In a significant development, the Bharatiya Janata Party organised a joining programme on Monday at Joyram Para under Dalpati ADC Village in the Raima Valley Assembly constituency.
Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma attended the programme along with ADC member Bhumika Nanda Reang and state committee secretary of the BJP Janajati Morcha Joy Bahadur Rupini. Several local BJP leaders and party workers were also present at the event.
During the programme, 284 voters from 112 families formally joined the BJP, taking the party flag in the presence of the minister and other leaders.
According to party sources, many of the new members were previously associated with different political parties, including the Tipra Motha Party, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Indian National Congress, and the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura.
Speaking at the programme, Minister Debbarma highlighted the state government’s efforts to improve infrastructure and social development in tribal-dominated areas. He said initiatives in sectors such as education, road connectivity and welfare schemes are being implemented to improve the living standards of people in the hills.
