Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Yatra to benefit farmers ahead of Kharif season: Minister Ratan Lal Nath

Along with the rest of the nation, the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Yatra will begin here in the state of Tripura from May 29 and will last till June 12.

 

Addressing a press conference here at Agartala on Wednesday, the state agriculture and farmers welfare minister Ratan Lal Nath said that the campaign will be held in 864 locations of the state starting from May 29. He said, “In view of the upcoming Kharif season, we are organising the campaign across the state.”

 

“3 separate committee have been formed in every district of the state. Each committee include representatives from the Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD), Fisheries, agricultural scientists, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), ICAR, Agricultural and Veterinary Colleges, and progressive farmers,” Nath said, adding that during the campaign period, meetings will be held with 200 targeted farmers of the state. At least 72 meetings will be held across the state, he added.

 

He said that 24 Krishi Raths will be mobilized displaying banners and information about various state and central schemes related to agriculture, horticulture, ARDD, and fisheries. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha will inaugurate the campaign at Bishramganj under Sepahijala district. All ministers, MLAs, MDCs, and other public representatives will participate in these programs.

 

The Minister also said that around 1.72 lakh farmers have been directly reached out to regarding this initiative, and approximately 200 scientists will engage with them during the campaign, alongside progressive farmers.

 

Underling the significance of the campaign, the minister said that Viksit Krishi Sankalp campaign will focus on guiding farmers in the use of Soil Health Cards for informed crop selection and balanced fertilizer application.
