CM Dr Manik Saha inaugurates State level campaign of Viksit Krishi Sankalp; emphasises on sustainable practise and farmers empowerment

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Thursday launched the state level campaign of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan in a function at Bishramganj subdivision in Sepahijala district of the state and said that the Abhiyan is to bridge the gap between the agricultural researches and farmers.

 

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the campaign aims to educate farmers about modern technologies and be acknowledged with the researchers made by the agricultural scientists and researchers to enhance crops. This also aims at sustainable practices, and farmer empowerment, Dr Saha added.

 

The campaign is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR), State agriculture departments, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs).

 

Underlining the significance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and 5G network in the present time, Dr Saha said that AI and 5G technology will transform agriculture by enabling smart farming practices, improving resource management, and enhancing operational efficiency. He said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given utmost importance to boost the agriculture sector and make the country self-sufficiency.”

 

Meanwhile, the state agriculture and farmers welfare minister Ratan Lal Nath addressed the gathering and said that the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is expected to empower farmers with knowledge and tools to increase productivity and ensure sustainable agriculture in Tripura.

 

Minister Nath informed that the ambitious awareness drive will cover 864 locations across Tripura, engaging over 1.72 lakh farmers. Each location will see three meetings per day, with the involvement of one progressive farmer and three local committees comprising experts from the Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Resource Development Department (ARDD), ICAR, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Agriculture College, Fisheries and Veterinary Colleges, and agricultural scientists.

 

To boost outreach and engagement, 24 specially designed ‘Krishi Raths’ will travel across the state, disseminating key messages and interacting with farmers, he added.
