Two held near at Damcherra with Yaba worth Rs 6 crore

In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Tripura Police have apprehended two individuals and confiscated a substantial quantity of Yaba tablets valued at Rs 6 crores in Damcherra, situated in the North District of Tripura.

The Superintendent of Police for the North District, Bhanupada Chakraborty, disclosed that acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted a Bolero vehicle near the Tripura-Mizoram border. This operation, led by Officer-in-Charge Sanjay Majumdar of Damacherra police station, led to the arrest of two suspected drug peddlers. Upon inspecting the vehicle, registered under TR01-B-0314, authorities uncovered 60,000 Yaba tablets cleverly concealed in six bundles. The estimated value of the seized narcotics is an astounding Rs 6 crores.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Maman Hossain (34), a resident of Bishalgarh in Sepahijala District, and Krishna Chandra Singh (35), from Ranirbazar in the West District.

Subsequent to their apprehension, the accused were promptly taken into custody by law enforcement personnel. They were then presented before the Dharmanagar district court on Thursday to face charges related to the smuggling attempt.
