The news editor of the Tripuratoday news web portal Bapi Ray was attacked by a group of miscreants on Friday night here at Agartala.
The incident took place after the news editor Bapi Ray was returning home from his work on Friday night at around 10:30 pm. A group of miscreants attacked him and left him sustained injury on his head.
On his way back to home at Lalbahadur Chowmuhni on Friday night with his vehicle, Bapi Ray reached near Ganaraj Chowmuhni petrol pump and accidently got dashed with a scooty on the road. Soon after the incident a group of miscreants from the long queue infront of the petrol pump rushed to Bapi Roy, where one of the miscreants attacked him on his head and left him injured.
Journalist Bapi Ray was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he received a stitch on his head, while on the other hand, the accused youth, who attacked him, managed to escape from the spot soon after the incident. An FIR was lodged with the East police station.
On being contacted with the Officer in-charge of the East Agartala Police Station, he informed that the police had already initiated investigation into the incident. He further informed that presently police is trying to gather the CCTV footage of the Ganaraj Chowmuhni area, where the news editor Bapi Ray was attacked.
The incident has yet again triggered questions over the safety and security of the journalists of the state.
