The Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs Dr. L Murugan on Thursday arrived here at Agartala on a two-day visit to the state and laid emphasis on proper implementation of the flagship programmes of the Prime Minister.
During the visit, he participated in a district-wise review meeting of various departments at the Conference Hall of the Circuit House in Belonia this afternoon. He reviewed the implementation of various schemes including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PM Janaman, MGN Rega, Health Department, Social Welfare and Social Education, Agriculture, Education, Lakhpati Didi, Sports, Jal Jeevan Mission, Forest, Balika Mancha etc.
He also reviewed the progress of the work of various departments of the government and laid emphasis on the proper implementation of the Prime Minister's flagship programs. While stating the purpose of the visit, he said that his visit is to check whether there is any deficiency in the work of various departments.
He said that the Prime Minister has given utmost importance to the development of border villages. In that regard, priority has been given to the development of border villages of the North Eastern states. He said that the Prime Minister's dream is to build an Atmanirbhar Bharat. The government is moving towards that goal. He highlighted the potential of exporting cashew nuts produced in South Tripura. He expressed satisfaction with the work of various departments in the district and thanked the officials.
At the end of the meeting, he visited the Belonia district Hospital and there he exchanged views with the children and health center staff. He expressed satisfaction with the infrastructure and services of the hospital. While talking to reporters, he said that the Prime Minister's goal is to develop infrastructure up to primary health centers throughout the country, as well as establish one medical college in each district. Medical seats in the country have been increased to 75,000, he added.
