Apart from masks, sanitizers and other hygienic practices; it is also equally important to follow a proper diet chart to fight the COVID 19. According to experts, a diet containing all the necessary nutritious components builds up the immune system, which is the first line of defense for the human body to fight COVID. As the entire globe has been forced to clamp lockdown and people are staying mostly in homes, experts believe, it is the right time to make a healthy choice of food.
According to dietitian Suprika Das, a proper diet that includes all the necessary food components enables the body to fight the virus and if someone gets infected it is the immunity system that expedites the process of recovery.
“We should all consume an adequate volume of protein, fat, carbohydrate, vitamin, mineral, fiber and plenty of water. As a source of vitamin, people should go for green and colorful veggies, edible seeds, fish, meat, eggs, and nuts”, she said.
In an exclusive interview with this reporter, she also suggested that people should use the traditional healers that were being used for long in the kitchens to ensure good health.
“Turmeric should be consumed every day. It can be eaten in both forms raw or cooked. Garlic is another important component that has been traditionally preferred as a strong anti-oxidant. Ginger is also should be eaten adequately in order to thwart any kind of infection, it also keeps the digestive system clear”, Das added.
She also suggested intaking sour curd for better digestion and immunity. “Curd is an important part of the diet. The good bacteria that it has kill toxic elements and ensure good health. Apart from that fruits that taste sour must be taken regularly to maintain vitamin C. Vitamin C has been always considered to be an antibiotic in science” she added.
“All this along with 8 to 10 glass of water and good sleep are tools to fight any infection. And, one must strictly avoid taking any processed food, flour-based food or oily stuff and others to keep the immune system strong enough. Moreover, timely eating habits will also help a lot”, the expert opined. She also urged everyone to practice free and exercise and others follow the hygienic practices as per the WHO guidelines to avoid the COVID 19 making you the next prey.
