Tension prevailed at Kadamtala’s Ichairaapar village located in the fringes of India Bangladesh borders after pitched battle broke between the villagers and BSF personnel after allegations had been raised against BSF of abusing a woman late on Monday night.
The incident led both the parties--villagers and BSF to lodged FIRs and counter FIRs at Kadamtala police station.
Sources said, a 40-year old woman was groped by a BSF Jawan when she was returning from the lavatory. On hearing the screams of the woman, the other family members came out and tried to retaliate. But, as all of the family members were comparatively ill-equipped to prevent the armed BSF and some members of teams who later joined him, they were inhumanly beaten up and reported to have fired by gas gun. All the family members sustained injuries during the scuffle.
As soon as the news spread, a team of police from Kadamtala police station rushed to the spot and rescued the injured persons. All of them were sent to Kadamtala village hospital for treatment and later referred to Dharmanagar district hospital.
Sources in the police department said, the BSF, in their complaint, said that the entire incident was fabricated and actually all of them were trying to smuggle cattle beyond the fence. However, no specific statement was released from the part of BSF authorities.
