In a decisive move to modernize public administration, the Tripura government has begun integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its governance framework, aiming to enhance transparency, efficiency, and citizen service delivery.
The initiative was the central theme of the Sensitization cum Capacity Building Workshop on AI for Good Governance: Driving Transparency, Efficiency & Impact, held in Agartala today. Organized by the Department of Information Technology in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division under the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the workshop brought together senior officials and digital governance stakeholders.
Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, who inaugurated the event, underscored the transformative potential of AI in public administration. “Artificial Intelligence can significantly improve institutional accountability, enhance transparency, and elevate the quality of service delivery,” he said.
Highlighting the state’s ongoing digital initiatives—including e-Office, e-Cabinet, and the Beneficiary Management System (BMS)—Sinha noted that such tools have already simplified workflows and improved administrative responsiveness. “These initiatives are aligned with our vision of ‘Digital Tripura’ and contribute meaningfully to the broader ‘Digital India’ mission,” he added.
He stressed the need to embrace emerging technologies to further streamline governance. “Digital tools are no longer optional—they are essential enablers of inclusive development. Our progress so far is the result of coordinated efforts across departments,” he said.
Secretary of the Department of Information Technology, Kiran Gitte, echoed these views, emphasizing that AI is now a necessity rather than a futuristic aspiration. “AI is a powerful tool for data-driven decision-making and faster service delivery. We are working to establish an AI-based innovation ecosystem tailored to the needs of citizens,” he said.
