Death of an old man of tribal community due to starvation created the situation tense at Chawmanu during protest rally organized by BJP which confronted another rally of CPI-M in the afternoon today.
Sources said that a man of a deprived tribal family Anil Chakma (60) died due to starvation and illness at Manikpur area of Rajdhar ADC village under Dhalai district yesterday. He survived by his widow daughter who has four children. All of them were dependent on him. Late Chakma gave his ration card on mortgage. He had no job card. As a result he was suffering from starvation. They have no house. So they took shelter at an abandoned store room of Tui Chanda Roaja Para School.
Meanwhile BJP leader of Chawmanu Hangsa Tripura and Sambhu Lal Chakma went to meet with the family members and made all arrangement of rice and food for the family members. Besides, SDM of Chawmanu Subhas Saha and BDO Rakesh Chakraborty also reached there on being informed about the incident.
Meanwhile, BJP Chawmanu Mandal Committee organized a protest rally in protest of starvation death of Anil Chakma Chawmanu Bazar today. At the same time CPI-M organized another rally today in protest of attack of All India Secretary of CPI-M at New Delhi yesterday. A situation of clash created when both the rallies confronted each other in the market. However police succeeded to tackle the situation. Meanwhile BDO assured to provide help to the family from PDF fund. BJP demanded job card and to recover the ration card for the deprived family.
