In response to escalating prices of onions and potatoes following the disruption in movements of good trains, the Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Manik Lal Das has taken decisive action to alleviate the burden on consumers.
During a meeting convened with wholesale traders in the capital on Thursday at the office of the Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate, urgent measures were discussed to stabilize the market prices of these essential commodities.
Expressing concerns over reports of unscrupulous traders exploiting the situation to hike prices, the Sadar SDM emphasized the importance of maintaining fair prices to prevent hardship for the general public.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, the Sadar SDM assured that steps are being taken to assess and regulate the stock of potatoes and onions available in the market. It was reiterated that there is an ample supply of these items, countering claims of scarcity driving price surges.
The soaring prices of goods across the state have prompted the administration to take a proactive stance against price gouging. With numerous complaints from consumers, the Sadar sub-district administration is intensifying efforts to address the issue and ensure affordability for all.
