A team of experts from NCDC (National Centre for Disease Control) arriving in Tripura to investigate the source of COVID spread in Tripura. The COVID infected cases have already spiked up to 88 but still the state government as well as the BSF authorities among whom the virus is spreading extensively have failed to trace the source of disease. Health Secretary in-charge SK Rakesh informed the media persons regarding the new development through a press conference here in the civil secretariat.
In last few days, the numbers of COVID cases have increased up to 88 after 2 BSF jawans found to be exposed to the deadly contagion. Now, a BSF troop out of 138 and 86 battalion has been also found positive who hails from the Dhalaighat BOP located in Kamalpur. This is the first case to be reported from a place out of Ambassa sub-division.
Addressing the media persons, Rakesh said, the head quarter of the Jawan is located at Nalkata and he has never been in contact of the first patient. He has been posted in the BOP Dhalaighat since March 11. As of now, Ambassa has been considered to be source of spread but this new development is forcing the authorities to explore other avenues, said Rakesh.
“Only recently”, he said, “we have a meeting with the IG Tripura frontier. The issues related to COVID spread have come up for discussion during the meeting and after a thorough discussion we contacted NCDC seeking its intervention. The team will be coming the state soon”.
