A 17 years old minor girl had been purportedly raped at Teliamura sub-division under Khowai district today prompting serious resentment among the locals. As the incident took place in close proximity to the local police station, a section of the locals pointed fingers at the law enforcement machinery and tried to hold the police inability responsible behind the unprecedented occurrence.
The minor is a resident of a remote village of the Teliamura subdivision. The victim’s boyfriend is accused of being involved in the incident as she went to meet him responding to his request, sources in the police department said.
Police had detained two four wheelers which were reported to have been used in the crime. The minor girl informed the police that her boyfriend Rupesh Sarkar (20), son of Ramprasad Sarkar is a resident of Chakmaghat which comes under Teliamura Police station.
The girl also informed the police that he was repeatedly asking her to meet him in Chakmaghat. While meeting he was busy on some phone calls. She got suspicious about these and wanted to get back to home as soon as possible. While she was standing in Chakmaghat bazar around 06:30 pm, two cars stopped there and 5 men forcefully took her inside the car.
They drove her to Ghagriya mangal area in Teliamura and raped her inside the car. They dropped her in front of Netaji Nagar SBI branch and ran away. Her boyfriend was waiting there with his bike and told her that he will drop her home. But as soon as they came near the Rail bridge area, local people detained them and handed them over to police.
The minor girl accused those 5 men along with her boyfriend for this incident. Police had arrested Rupesh Sarkar on charges of 341/376(D) and 408 POCSO act. A search operation had been also initiated to trace all the suspects of the case, police sources informed this correspondent.
