Situation at Gandecherra’s Dumburnagar block office turned highly volatile after a scuffle broke out between the officials of the block office and a section of MGNREGA wagers seeking their payouts cleared before the festive season. The wagers later resolved to lodge an official complaint with the local police station. Though, as per the last information gathered till filling the report, no FIR had been taken against BDO Srishendu Debbarma.
The wagers alleged, they had met in a deputation to the BDO office to know about the payouts of their dues. But, soon they went inside the BDO office, they had been abused by the BDO.
"Angered by seeing us the BDO threw some of his official documents and blank papers on us. He had also used very unsophisticated language while talking to us that this office did not permit him to use. He should apologize for this", one of the persons who gathered before the BDO office told this correspondent.
On the other hand, the BDO's reaction was on the straight contrary. He said, "those who had come here to meet me threatened me so that I approve the release orders of their dues. But, in reality they deserve no payout”.
He later explained, a work order was issued of 10 days for laying up bricks for a soiling road at Pancharatan ADC village. After two days of work, the BDO office received a complaint from a local and the BDO office ordered to cancel the work order. Local Panchayat secretary, not paying any heed to the BDO office order continued the work for 10 days. Thus, the work stood cancelled and no payouts could be released from this end, said the BDO.
Sources in the police said, some people have approached us to lodge an FIR against the BDO but the matter is still on hold and if any progress is reported soon actions will be taken.
