A GRS (Gramin Rojgar Sevak) of Khowai’s Padmabil block was inhumanly beaten up by masked miscreants late on August 27 night after a group miscreants barged into his residence. The incident, that too, a day after the local BDO was attacked triggered massive repercussions in the official level.
Reportedly, the BDO was attacked on August 26 last while he went to probe a reported irregularity related to the MGNREGA payouts. The day after miscreants attacked the GRS identified as Bimal Sukla Das at his own residence.
Reportedly, on August 27 night, a group of miscreants entered his house. On spotting Bimal, the miscreants started beating him up. His wife Mithu Chanda and child also sustained injuries during their failed attempts to save Bimal. Bimal somehow escaped and went to the road and raised the alarm. As the miscreants anticipated that they might get exposed, they absconded.
Bimal was rushed to the local hospital and was later shifted to GBP hospital owing to his critical health conditions. Mithu Chanda had on Friday lodged an FIR with the local police station describing the incident.
In his reaction, local BDO said, some irregularities have come to fore related to the MGNREGA payments. It is almost certain that the miscreants have planned the attack to threaten him of the dire consequences he can face if the real perpetrators behind the fund embezzlement are exposed. Police’s prompt action is required in the case. According to the last gathered information, Bimal is still not out of danger.
