Non inclusion of new names in the lists of social welfare benefits since the state witnessed political power shift has raised many eyebrows. Reportedly, the BJP party before coming to power promised that it would increase the social welfare benefits. And, keeping it’s promise all the allowances were hiked from Rs 700 to Rs 1000.
But, as the department to took no initiative to include new beneficiaries, a large number of eligible people were left without any assistance.
Speaking to the media, such a person who is eligible to get a social pension said, in the last regime it was all about political influence. There are many people who doesn’t really need a social pension getting the benefits whereas people like us are not getting a single penny as assistance.
He also told the media that the new government’s decision of increasing the benefits was welcome and praise worthy step. But, at the same time, the government should also understand the people who are getting the benefits were enlisted during the Left regime. There should be a revised list of beneficiaries after an in depth investigation.
Another elderly lady who has no one in her house said, time has changed but the government should look into the matter who are really eligible for the scheme.
