A woman on Thursday was arrested by Gandacherra police on charges of killing her husband and burying him under the bed at her own residence located at Jagabandhu para area of Gandacherra.
The woman reported to have hit her husband by a spade in the head and then fled away after she somehow managed to bury the body underneath the muddy surface of her home, police said.
The body was unearthed after police rushed to the spot. Following an order of the executive magistrate, the police carried out digging up the suspected spot where the body was informed to be buried. Once the body was found the accused woman Bharati Tripura was traced from Raisyabari area.
“Preliminary investigation suggests that the woman in the fit of rage attacked her husband and wounded him grievously. The man succumbed to his injuries in the spot. The body had been sent for autopsy and a specific FIR was lodged by the family members of the deceased Sanjit Reang (30) in local police station”, said SDPO Raisyabari Dasi Ram Reang.
Sources said, the conjugal relation between the couple was disturbed since the last couple of years. Sanjit and Bharati often got involved in quarrel and sometimes even scuffle. The locals had many times tried to resolve the issues but failed. After Sanjit started consuming liquor almost daily the situation turned more bitter. On Wednesday also locals heard both of them quarreling over some issue. Sanjit in inebriated condition was also heard to have beaten up his wife. But all of sudden everything ended up in a conspicuous silence after a scream of Sanjit. It was when the locals informed the police of some serious incident. However, by the time police reached there, Baharati fled away after locking her home up.
During the primary interrogation, police said, the accused admitted that she had hit her husband with a spade.
