When the doctors, facing all the odds, risking their lives to battle the Covid 19, a doctor had been attacked at Khowai on Saturday inviting massive repercussions across the region.
A group of miscreants somehow managed to enter the residence of the victim doctor Tamal Sarkar and attacked him.
Sources said that miscreants went on a rampage in the Singichara area of Khowai last night. A group of miscreants jumped over the boundary of former Maddhya Singichara Pradhan Bijoy Nama Sudra’s house at around 11pm and vandalised his property. Then they entered the house of Rajesh Nama Sudra and vandalised his property as well as his autorickshaw which was his only source of livelihood.
At around 11.30 pm, miscreants hiding their faces entered the house of Dr Tamal Sarkar and vandalised his house, car and scooter. Before leaving, they reportedly poured gasoline over the car and scooter and set fire on it. Fire Service authorities went there and doused the flames. Dr Tamal Sarkar has been posted in Khowai District Hospital.
A gang of miscreants in around 100 motorcycles had gone on a similar vandalism spree in Khowai on the night of September 04 last. Locals said that they were feeling helpless in this situation and could not see any visible steps being taken by the authorities or police to mitigate this issue. However, the police failed to give any specific inputs on the incidents.
