Eid-al-Adha: People offer namaz amid COVID protocols

AGARTALA:

Several devotees on Wednesday reached the Gedu Miah Masjid, one of the largest mosques in Tripura, to offer namaz on the occasion of Eid-al-Adha amid stringent coronavirus disease (Covid-19) protocols. Muslims across the state started observing Eid-al-Adha or what is known as the 'Feast of Sacrifice' from late Tuesday evening

Devotees from different parts of the city today gathered at Gedu Miah Masjid to offer prayer in a staggered manner amid heavy safety protocols due to the viral disease outbreak.

Eid-al-Adha this year happens to be another major Islamic holiday in the shadow of the pandemic, curbing large gatherings of devotees at prominent mosques like Gedu Miah Masjid at Agartala apart from others.

"We hope that if we fight together against the COVID-19 virus, we shall definitely overcome this pandemic," said Imam of the Masjid today.

He said, "We also pray and seek forgiveness from the almighty for our sins and give us strength to contain the spread of coronavirus."

Eid al-Adha is typically marked by prayers, large social gatherings, slaughtering of livestock and distributing meat to the needy.
