Teliamura police seized 476 kg of dried cannabis while checking the vehicle on Sunday morning.
According to the details of the incident, Traffic Police led by ASI Vijay Das of Teliamura Traffic Unit on Sunday morning checking the vehicles as usual. Suspiciously while checking the documents of the six-wheeler lorry bearing registration number MH04JK8349 police recovered hidden cannabis. The car was loaded with empty sacks of cement and carried in the middle of the car to the bottom of the sacks, carrying 476 kg of dry cannabis for smuggling.
Teliamura Traffic ASI Vijay Das and other traffic police then detained 3 persons from the vehicle. Ram Bunay Sharma of Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Santosh Kumar of Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Kapil Kumar of Harimanu zilla, Bihar.
Traffic DSP Bikramjit Sukla Das rushed to the spot after receiving the news. Police Officer Sonacharan Jamatia, Teliamura Police Station OC Narugopal Deb, and TSR force.
After questioning them, the police came to know that the lorry was going to Howrah, Kolkata with empty sacks of cement and Cannabis from a private company called LNT Private Limited located at Agartala Bypass.
Mr. Jamatia added that the police would take action against the private company during the investigation.
