In a significant breakthrough, Tripura Police in Sonamura successfully recovered a country made pistol and two bullets from the residence of Abul Kalam in Bejimara, following a tip-off received from a reliable source.
The raid was conducted on Wednesday morning, with the police acting on intelligence suggesting that firearms were hidden in Kalam's house.
Upon the arrival of the police team at his residence, Abul Kalam managed to escape, leaving behind his family members. During the thorough search operation, the police discovered the pistol concealed within a clay furnace, neatly packed in a plastic packet along with two bullets.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonamura police station confirmed the recovery, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in maintaining law and order. "We acted swiftly on the information received and have successfully retrieved the weapon. However, Abul Kalam is currently at large," the OC stated.
In connection with the ongoing investigation, Abul Kalam's wife has been taken to the police station for questioning. Authorities are hopeful that this will lead to further insights and possibly the apprehension of Abul Kalam, who is already facing charges for allegedly threatening the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Kathalia block.
Efforts to locate and arrest Abul Kalam are underway, with police teams deployed in strategic locations.
