All India Congress President Rahul Gandhi today assured the tribals in Tripura of giving direct funding to the ADCs of this state and others in Northeastern region. Mr. Gandhi was addressing an election rally at Khumulwng, Tripura ADC headquarter today. PCC president Maharaja Pradyot Kishore Debbarman and other congress leaders remained present in the rally.
"If Congress is voted to power at the centre in this ensuing Lok Sabha Poll, it will empower the Tripura's ADC areas by directing funding," adding to this Mr. Gandhi said, "Congress shall defend the culture of North East by restricting Citizenship Amendment Bill from getting it implemented."
"BJP party president Amit Shah said Citizenship Amendment Bill will be imposed on the people of Manipur and the Northeast. These people are attacking your culture. We did not allow the bill to pass. The Congress will defend your culture and the bill will not be passed," Rahul Gandhi told a huge gathering at Khumulwng today.
He also said, "We have to significantly increase the amount of money we are spending in connecting the North East to the rest of the country."
