Tripura Pradesh Congress President Pijush Biswas today alleged that the Congress leaders who were trying to help the needy people facing political intimidation.
Addressing a press conference here in the Congress Bhavan, he said, “One Congress leader Uttam Das of Teliamura has been beaten mercilessly after he served foods to some of the starving families. First, he has been beaten up by the BJP sheltered miscreants and later left him bleeding precariously. The Pradesh Congress condemns such vindictive politics in this time of crisis”.
He also informed that the incident took place when a group of Youth Congress workers fed a number of families going through the food crisis. “The problem has been triggered after a number of Youth Congress workers distributed food among few families of Teliamura ward no 3. They were served food in response to the help they sought. But, When the Youth Congress worker was returning one Uttam Das had been targeted and beaten up” he alleged.
He also accused the police of playing a partial role and not taking any actions as per the FIR. “We have lodged an FIR with the local police station but no actions have been taken yet,” said he.
