Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Monday laid the foundation for construction of much awaited RCC bridge over the Manu River at Manikpur in Dhalai district of the state. The bridge which will be constructed at the cost of Rs. 500.33 lakhs shall connect Manikpur and Debachhara.
Deb said that a multi-faceted development program is now being implemented in Manikpur which was once gripped with terror. Overcoming all narrowness, development work is being carried out from the city to marginal areas for the overall welfare of citizens of all levels, Deb said.
Apart from laying the foundation stone of the bridge, the Chief Minister also inaugurated three more paved bridges from Chailengta to Chawmanu. These paved bridges have been constructed at Durgachhara, Gurucharanchhara and Hejachhara between Chailengta and Chawmanu.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that a bunch of plans are being implemented for the overall development of the long neglected Manikpur and overcoming all narrowness, the government is working on the basis of prioritizing the provision of civic services with a transparency.
Meanwhile, Deb said that the state government is working uncompromisingly to curb the growing drug trade in the state. Those involved in the drug trade will not be tolerated in any way. The Chief Minister urged the women to be more vigilant in this regard.
