Birth Day of S. R. Ranganathan observed at Ambassa

AMBASSA:

81st Birth Day of father of Library Science Dr. S. R. Ranganathan observed at Ambassa Public Library yesterday. On the occasion sit and draw competition among children was organized at 9 a.m. Children participated in the competition in 5 groups.

Chairperson of Ambassa Municipal Council Chandan Bhowmik inaugurated the programme by lighting lamp and offering floral tribute to the portrait of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan at 11 a.m. On the occasion Dr. Sanjay Biswas, teacher Malin Dutta and Chairperson Bhowmik delivered speeches.

Dr. Sanjay Biswas said, S.R. Ranganathan was born in 1892 at Madras city. He was scholar of Mathematics. In spite of that he stressed on project on Library and building up library all over the country. Referring library helps us from different sides he explained necessity of library to educate us.

Chairperson Chandan Bhowmik said, Ranganathan thought about formation and introduction of library. He said, store of book in library at all cities is the contribution of Dr. Ranganathan. In- charge of Library Lalit Goswami also participated in discussion.
