Biplab accuses CPIM of opportunistic alliance, facing lack of candidates to contest LS

AGARTALA:

Biplab Kumar Deb, the BJP's candidate for the West Tripura Lok Sabha seat, criticized the CPIM, labeling them as opportunistic for forming an alliance with the Congress due to their lack of a candidate to contest in the Lok Sabha elections.

He also launched a blistering attack on the CPIM, accusing them of perpetrating atrocities against Congress workers during their 25-year reign in the state. Deb raised questions about the CPIM's capacity to rectify the alleged violence.

"Thousands of Congress workers fell victim to merciless killings under the CPIM's regime. How do they plan to absolve themselves of this bloodshed?" Deb queried the gathering, underlining the necessity for political accountability and justice.

Rooted in Tripura, Deb reiterated his dedication to the state's advancement, highlighting his efforts to enhance the Tripureshwari Temple as a symbol of progress. He criticized the previous CPIM administration for overlooking the temple's potential to attract visitors and stimulate tourism.

"I spearheaded the launch of Tripurasundari Express, the first express train in Tripura, during my tenure as Chief Minister, with the backing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration," Deb remarked, contrasting this achievement with the CPIM's failure to honor the deity.

Deb also mocked the CPIM's absence from public life outside of election seasons, alleging that the party's loss of deposit in the state was due to the blessings of Mother Tripureshwari and the people's will.

In a bold assertion, Deb accused the CPIM of forging an opportunistic alliance with the Congress for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections due to their lack of a viable candidate. He portrayed this move as a desperate bid to cling to political relevance.

Wrapping up his speech, Deb reminded the audience of the 2018 assembly elections, where the people of Tripura decisively voted for change, ending the prolonged Congress-CPIM rule and ushering in a BJP-led government.

The rally underscored the fierce political rivalry in Tripura, with the BJP positioning itself as the agent of development and change against the backdrop of the CPIM's alleged historical mismanagement.
